Basic routine Care
Brushing: Any sort of slicker brush is ideal! You can find them at any pet store and most department stores like Walmart. Brushing your suit before and after use will prevent matting and keep it looking brand new.
Minor repairs: Some repairs are so easy that they can be done at home to avoid shipping fees. For glued pieces coming apart, e6000 is stronger than hot glue! It can be found in craft stores, and craft/hardware sections of most large department stores. If you're confident with a needle, ladder stitching is a useful technique to sew fabric holes when you can't access the backs. I'm also willing to give advice or walk you through anything if it's an easy fix.
Cleaning
Disinfecting: You can find homemade spray specifically made for fursuits on Etsy or in dealers dens at conventions! You can also make your own using 2:1 isopropyl alcohol and water, with a couple drops of fragrance oil if desired. Avoid febreeze, lysol, or other store bought disinfecting products, as it's said they can damage fibers in your suit over time. Remember to wear a balaclava under your head even though it's lined, to help prevent sweat from soaking into it!
Washing: For small stains or simple spot cleaning, I recommend using Folex carpet spot remover with an absorbent cloth! It can be found on Amazon and Walmart. Bissell's Little Green portable spot cleaner (or a similar small upholstery cleaning machine) is a great investment for gentle yet deep cleaning. You can also hand wash parts in a bathtub/sink with laundry detergent and cold water. I don't recommend washing the head this way, as the foam inside can be very difficult to dry when completely soaked. The eyes are also water resistant, but don't let them soak as a precaution!
Drying: You can hang some suit parts to dry or air dry them in a dryer that has a non-heat setting. I don't recommend putting the head in a dryer, and wet feet may also be too heavy for one. When hanging suit parts to dry, it helps to have a fan blowing on them. When using a dryer, never use a setting with heat, as it can cause irreversible damage for the fur fibers! Be careful with using hair dryers for the same reason.
